This would be my biggest suggestion to folks trying to build a good audience.
Post only the work you want to do more of. https://twitter.com/LorekeeperWren/status/1200284966715904001">https://twitter.com/Lorekeepe...

For clarification: "good" in this case does not mean "large", it means "quality."
Having an audience that actually supports the work and interests you love is worth way more than a huge number of people who want more of something you drew specifically for attention.

If you happen to REALLY LOVE making work for a specific fandom/subject/etc that is super popular and gets you that attention, that& #39;s awesome - please ride that majestic horse into the sunset, but making something JUST because it& #39;s popular is never worth it if you don& #39;t love it.
It can be REAL HARD not to post everything you make, especially when you know it would get you a boost. You WILL see slower growth if you don& #39;t post every commission, fanart, etc you make, but it will likely be better growth.
Rule of thumb: Does it make you happy? Share it.

There is, of course, a massive grain of salt that needs to be taken with any of this. Everyone& #39;s experience is different and there& #39;s a large amount of nuance that goes into working in art commercially and juggling everything involved.
This just happens to be the one rule that has made me MUCH happier doing art as my job.
It doesn& #39;t necessarily land me MORE work, but the work I do get is much easier to complete BECAUSE I ENJOY IT.
And that means I can usually make BETTER work for my clients, as well.
