A couple years ago I met a trainer in the gym. I hired him. Was the first time I ever used a trainer. I liked him and gave him a shot. He charged me $25/hr. After 3x working out with him I told him he should charge more and volunteered to pay him $40/hr. I booked 2hrs/week.
This guy loved working out with me. I was the only client who could hang with his personal routine somewhat. Later, he revealed he had spent 25yrs in prison and had recently been released. He went in at 16 and came out at 41. I met him the following year. A lot of things clicked.
His conditioning was incredible. I've never seen anything like it. He also enjoyed making me tap out. Apparently, in the feds every compound he touched he'd outperform other inmates known for their physicality in competitions everyone bet on. That made me feel a lot better. lol
Even though he was in his 40's I could still see the 16yr old kid in him. In a lot of ways I'd help him cope with life. His entire network are guys who did as much time as him or more. I've already encountered 2 of those guys on the street independent of him.
He called me 2 days ago to inform me he had a minor legal problem and wasn't sure how to proceed. I offered the best advice I could. Yesterday, he was going to see an attorney and needed some help. I told him, "I got you." I got to the lawyer's office early and took care of it.
I wanted to meet the lawyer and let him know the guy is essentially suffering from arrested development, SOCIALLY. He's highly intelligent, but his whole life has been in prison. I broke a few things down to the attorney to help him understand his client and represent him better.
Once I left I called my guy to tell him it was handled. He couldn't stop thanking me. I told him, "Thank YOU for giving me the opportunity to earn my blessing." That made him laugh, and I joined him.
God has been good to me so I must be good to others.
