Real quick. Let me tell you about my @Lions fandom. I was born in Detroit. Idk why that means so much to me but it really does. Michigan is my favorite state and Detroit is my favorite city. When I was a kid..I remember seeing pics of me in Lions gear. So I assumed I was a fan.
We moved to the Chicago suburbs when I was 5 or 6 and my dad decided to become a Bears fan. No judgement here. Lions have sucked forever and I don’t think he was living or dying by the games each week. He never discouraged me from cheering for the Lions though and for that..😍😍
I grew up watching the GOAT @BarrySanders and would watch every game that the Lions played on Tv. I would watch the bottom of the screen if they weren’t live and hope to see the score change..My best friends are @Ninja_Invictusx and @Ninja and they weren’t huge football guys...
Chris became a fan when I brought him to the Ravens Lions game when he was 14. We were mesmerized by Ford Field. Spent many Sunday’s at @BWWings with him cheering for the Honolulu Blue. Tyler became a fan when we lived together in Manitowoc. We watched every game at a bar..
Chewy owned the bar and bought pizza for everyone each week. Chewy passed away from cancer and the Lions fans rallied around his family in a beautiful way. At this point, Chris, Tyler, and I are texting during EVERY game. Cheering with all we have.
Meanwhile, the city of Detroit is falling apart. The once powerhouse of a city is becoming run down and filled with violence. My love for the city grows deeper. I always root for the underdog. I just want to see it succeed. I want to see the poor taken care of...
I believe that sports can transform a city. The Lions represent the hope of an entire city. One day...they will win the Super Bowl and I pray that we are alive to see it. I love this team. I love this city. I love my family. #OnePride
