I had an experience when I first moved to Portland, OR. I want to work for then ITT Continental Baking Co. My boss wasn't much for the social aspect of his job. The home office in Rye, N.Y. sent a $1200 check to support the Repub Gov of Oregon at the time. The entire sales force
told the boss how much I liked politics & I should be the one to deliver the check & attend the fund raising dinner. The year was 1986. I met some super nice repub women. I was a dem. The women were all pro-choice, thought social programs were ok as long as they could be paid for
and understood the enviornment needed protecting. These were things I supported as well. What happened ladies? What turned the party so extreme? I watched in 2000 with Bush use faulty intell to push for war with Iraq. I followed the Knight Ridder stories that the intell was being
made up. I watched in 2010, the Tea (bag) party move even further right. The attacks on Obama were nothing less than racist. They elected people to congress who's goal was to dismantle gov, take away my choice to choose, shred eviornmental protections, & finally deny a sitting
POTUS, his supreme court pick. Then came trump. Trump represents the worse of the party, the worst instincts in our country, more violence, distrust of our institutions, etc. What happened to those women with whom I could agree? I know you are still out there & I know this is
still the same country that elected Barack Obama twice, supported the ACA, & moving toward green energy. Where are you now? I know you are out there. It would be easier to get discouraged & not vote, however, you must rally. You must pay attention to what is happening & keep
engaged. To stay home and not vote in 2020 would be the very worst thing you could do. Whoever becomes the dem candidate deserves your vote. All of them understand history, have read & understand the constitution, suppory the rule of law, & don't need to be the smartest in the
room. That should, right there, be enough to deserve your vote. #voteblueonly2020.
