Today is National day of mourning for many of us & today is a day of celebrations of life for many of us as well. My family celebrates both. Both the lost family members who passed long before us & the family members being born. We celebrate family, friendship & loved ones.
So allies, if you see us Indigenous people talking about celebrating today with our families or however we go about today, please mind your business. How we feel about this day is our own feelings & celebrations. So with that being said...
Please don’t attack Natives who do celebrate family. It’s not your place to call out indigenous people & frankly...I doubt we’d even call out our Native friends for celebrating family. Cause we’re not celebrating thanksgiving. Mind your business.
Here’s also a link from @TaraTomahawk who also has a link about thanksgiving day & to see who’s land your on! https://twitter.com/TaraTomahawk/status/1199723728432746497
