How to hobby on a bad day.. whether you’re having a bad day physical health wise, or mental health wise, I’m putting down my best tips (tried and tested) for getting through the ‘slog’

(A thread)
1) Try as hard as you can to make your hobby space convenient and easy to get hold of. You don’t want to spend all your spoons getting stuff out and putting it away. I use a moving trolley so I can paint in bed. You might use a project box, or a tray, or a dedicated desk space.
2) Make your environment as relaxed as possible. Don’t worry that you have to get X done in X time, or that you want to sit and paint for X hours. Take it as it comes. Stick some music on, shut the door, have snacks and drinks nearby. Make it cosy, but also so you can focus.
3) Like Batch Painting (ugh, I know) - do it in steps. So if you’re building Marines for example. Build and remove all the mouldlines from the heads, then do the chests etc. Paint all of one colour on every model, or focus on one model out of the squad if that’s easier for you.
4) DON’T FORGET TO TAKE A BREAK. Feel yourself flagging? Need a cup of tea? Go make one. Or watch tv for 10 minutes, something to destress and try to build a little energy back up. If you can’t go back to painting, then don’t worry, you’ve done a bit and that’s what counts!
5) Most importantly of all: HAVE FUN. Don’t worry about getting stuff done, just take it as it comes. That way, you may find yourself being productive.
