1/n Tweeple, Tweebrities and Tweeterattis, my tuppence on the whole OROP, NFU, Veterans’ issues with serving top brass , Armed Forces Vs Civil Services and such boiling issues. No malice intended towards anyone.
If we look at History since the Brits rule, it is my understanding that they first came in as traders. As they progressed from Traders to Rulers, they bought in administrative services, the constabulary and the Armed Forces to consolidate their rule.
our government infrastructure including political system administrative system Armed Forces and CAPFs is almost an exact replica of the Brit structure then. In this the Administrative Service was top most in hierarchy with Armed Forces and Constabulary...
In supporting roles to help Admin service govern. Now since the exact system is adopted we must understand that hierarchy still continues in that ranking. So it is futile to establish any ‘equivalence’ as such. It is left entirely to the Chiefs now to...
Consolidate their place in the country’s governance as it stands today. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw wielded that power and had managed to keep dignity of Armed Forces intact vis a vis that of Admin services and the polity.
Therefore it is pretty futile to establish any such equivalence today. As regards NFU, our predecessor have dug our graves by not accepting the same. But having said that, instead of looking at how much money or power the other has, we must enjoy what we have
And not waste time in all this self depreciating comparisons. We must now engage ourselves actively in seeing, what we can in our present position of strength ( I will not call it Power), do what we can for the progress of our Nation...
The Veterans are an immense source of knowledge and experience which should be utilised by government to further our progress. If not the govt, the veterans should stand together by themselves as entrepreneurs making special purpose vehicles/enterprises...
And further contribute altruistically to develop themselves and in that process the Nation. We should see ourselves as employers harnessing the youth dividend. There is no way then, that we cannot be heard.
we can start entrepreneurship programmes for battle casualties, make their after service life more dignified than just cribbing about taxing or not taxing of disability pension. These are my thoughts. I have decided not to comment or engage...
N/n in any negative discussions of this Nature. I have so many ideas which I am working on parallely in these last 7 months of my proud service in the Indian Navy. Anyone who identifies with my thoughts can DM me to ideate. Warm Regards
