So MEC is less profitable now that it's run by a mishmash of ex Big Retail MBAs chasing top line growth at all costs than when it was run by amateurs who knew their market, understood their niche and actually shopped at the store?

MEC used to be a store that carried all the essential items of wilderness activities that no other national retailer carried. Having no competition gave them pricing power and brand loyalty. Now they sell everything and compete against Amazon and Walmart. It's not working.
