A thread on @masrour_barzani and @MevlutCavusoglu ‘s press conference:
- Kurdistan region’s flag was behind @masrour_barzani next to Iraqi flag.
- @MevlutCavusoglu used “Iraq’s Kurdish region” instead of “Kurdistan region.”
- @masrour_barzani used “Kurdistan Region” several times, but the translator changed it to “Iraq’s Kurdish region.”
- @masrour_barzani spoke in English, not in Kurdish.
- @masrour_barzani supported sending back the Syrian refugees in Turkey to the ‘safe zone’, without forcing anyone to return.
- After @MevlutCavusoglu called PKK and Gulenists as “terrorists”, @masrour_barzani said that the terrorist group”s” are a threat to the whole region.
- @masrour_barzani Said that they are against the presence of PKK in Sinjar and other regions of the country.
- @MevlutCavusoglu said that they have discussed Turkey’s military operation into Syria and assured @masrour_barzani that the operation was against #PKK/ #YPG, not the #Kurds.
- They have discussed bilateral economic relations.
- @MevlutCavusoglu expressed his concerns regarding “banning” some Turkish products in the Kurdistan region.
This was a good move by Turkey and a weak stance by the @Kurdistan, to tell the world that Turkey is “not” against the Kurdish people in Syria and Turkey.
The reality is that Turkey isn’t against the “good Kurds” but they are against the “bad Kurds” who want 2 practice their political identity. During the independence ref., Iraqi Kurds became “bad Kurds” for a while. This not too complicated to understand in Turkey-Kurd relation.
