The ongoing trend of sports athletes in general having to make sacrifices to their sport shouldn't be seen as heroic. At no point should you have to completely sacrifice other things you enjoy. This oversaturation of sport and sportsperson is a really shitty thing.
F1 has it real bad, and so does football. Alexis Sanchez plays well over 100+ games for club and country. Way way WAY more than most players. And people are so quick to immediately pick on him for being "shit" when you're literally overworking the shit out of him
When Rosberg retired so many fans were ready to pick on him for "pussying out" when you could tell almost immediately that fighting for just *one* title had exhausted him to the breaking point. You can see it post race at abu dhabi. Too much sport is insanely unhealthy.
Bottas' situation is merely a statistic of an epidemic of a workaholic culture. Let athletes have longer rests. Cut down the race calendar. For goodness sake don't work them to the point where it's the only thing they can think of.
