What will drive the next wave of Pan-Africanism? Pre-colonial Pan-Africanism was fueled by concerted effort to gain independence from imperial masters. 60 years later, the continent is as divided and fragmented as ever or even worse.
I believe the next wave of Pan-Africanism will be driven by young African entrepreneurs looking for opportunities across markets. Entrepreneurs create businesses which create jobs. We'll see more demand of skills and mov't of money across borders organically.
It's now common to bump on Nigerian software dev in a cafe in the streets of Nairobi or Kenyan dev in Kampala. In 2019, it's hard to find a startup that's not launching in at least 2-3 African markets from the onset.
