THREAD:

Tech helps what our eyes (and video) can’t see. Working w/a college player tonight who I’ve been pitching cage bombs to for 7 yrs, and I learned something about her I didn’t know. It started with our assessment, involving @Blast_Sftball and @KMOTION3D and it was her 1/
first time using the equipment. We noticed her time to contact was below average, 0.17-0.18 and her K-vest graph showed poor pelvis deceleration (notice the plateau of the red line, which represents her pelvis speeds). I went to her mobility assessment, no obvious issues. 2/
Stumped, I looked at the video, and realized her pelvis never stopped turning, she clearly wasn’t decelerating, which was costing her time. This clip is 67 mph exit Velo, and 0.18 TTC. She’s 21, strong and stable, so why wasn’t she decelerating? 3/
Then I noticed her front knee (pictured). Asked her if there was a previous injury. “I broke this leg when I was in 4th grade.” 7 years of work and I never knew she had a previous injury, nor how it might effect her swing efficiency. Without using tech, I never would have 4/
asked that question. Her increased ROM is costing her time. I can’t change the physiology of her front leg, but we can spend our time making her core f-ing strong so she can decel better there and decrease her TTC. Tech helps coaches do their job better and it helped me tonight.
