My decision to join labour boiled down to my core view of politics. For me, it’s not about what benefits me the most as an individual, because I’m very aware that the world doesn’t revolve around me. I think more in terms of what will benefit society as a whole.
I might be from a middle class area and have a middle class family, but I’m very aware that many people cannot afford the kind of things I had at my fingertips while growing up (tuition so I got into uni, a nice childminder to go to so my parents were able to work, hot meals).
It is my view that this stuff should not be for people in a privileged position. I am confident to say that I would not be where I am without the things my parents were able to give me.But how is it fair that some people don’t get these opportunities on the basis of not having...
The means to benefit from it? Even as I have been at uni and needed intensive therapy for mental heath issues and bereavement, this is something that I am lucky enough to have my mother pay for. But it is simply unfair that that’s how anything works in society.
If you can afford it, the every opportunity is at your fingertips. But don’t expect the government to help, if you can’t afford it, you’re just not working hard enough!!!!
In conclusion, don’t be an arsehole, vote labour.
