I’d like to take a few moments to discuss one of the greatest music videos of all time: Nicole Westbrook’s “It’s Thanksgiving.”

First, this intro slaps. 🎶
These kids are always partying 🎉, but there’s no adults to be found anywhere.

Where are they exactly and why are they not celebrating these important holidays with their kids?
This poor girl is cooking 🥘 all by herself. Why are none of her buddies helping her? That’s so much work to put on one teenager.

Or then again, Nicole's just that good of a cook that she can do anything she puts her mind to. 💪🏼
I do remember the excitement about having a rare 4-day weekend during a busy school year, so I do share in this joy.

Also, listen for the bonus autotune moment. 🎶
The video is produced by the guy who brought us Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” Yes, this guy, who...creepily appears out of nowhere and suddenly is inserted in all of the holidays the kids were alone at earlier.

Maybe he’s the legal guardian of all these kids? 🤷🏼‍♂️
So, Nicole sets the table (again, all alone), and then people begin to show up. Someone brings ribs, nice, but one boy brought some cranberry jelly and Nicole was NOT having it.

What if it’s all he can afford? Show some thanks on #Thanksgiving, sheesh. 😼
Alright, the best part...

It begins with a quick prayer, followed by Nicole breaking out into a rap that she thinks slaps (while the children look VERY confused - my favorite being the girl at 0:02)

🎶 “CAN’T BE HATEFUL, GOTTA BE GREATFUL.” 🎶
Nicole then grabs a drumstick…

🎶“GIVE THEM THANKS, Y’ALL,”🎶

..and leaves the table to use a drumstick as a microphone and do some type of a performance for the camera where the kids are also dancing and the dude continues to eat, before they snap a pic and the day is over.
Anyway, that’s it, but if we can take one thing from this masterpiece, is that with all that’s going on in this crazy, stressful world...

“CAN’T BE HATEFUL,
GOTTA BE GREATFUL,
GOTTA BE GREATFUL,
CAN’T BE HATEFUL
I GOT MASHED POTATOES ON MY TABLE.”
