So, I'm seeing this trend of people hating on food bloggers for posting a story (or ads) to go with a recipe they're sharing and even though I'm not a food blogger, I don't like it.

First, you're getting the recipe for free.
Second, you're getting the recipe from someone who bought all the ingredients, tested it (which sometimes, often, means buying extra ingredients to compensate for mistakes), took pictures of it, edited the photos & wrote an article.
All of that takes an enormous amount of time.

Not only are the ingredients not free, neither is the camera and sometimes the software used to process the photos. Hosting a website isn't free, nor are domain names (usually).
And, while you may prefer simply getting to the recipe, others may not, search engines don't.
Optimizing content for search is important because great content is great but only if people can find it.

Content creators deserve to be paid for their labor. In this case, we can pay them by simply scrolling a little further.
Yes, ads can be annoying (that's why there are no pop-ups on YDV, I hate them) but they really are a small price for FREE content.
