Look what happened to non-Turkic peoples in those Turkic SSRs. The Uzbekistan govt refuses to give an accurate count of the Tajik inhabitants of the country, leading to an undercount/erasure of Tajik people living in Bukhara/Samarqand. Turkification underway for decades.

The USA has a long history of supporting Sunni terrorists, with the recent CIA operation Timber Sycamore which gave weapons to al qaida in Syria.

But there's also US support for Jundallah in Iran.

Now they support violent extremists in West China. All the same goal: destabilize

It should tell you a lot that when the Chinese government is trying to combat violent Islamists, these ppl on twitter are like "CHINA IS TRYING TO ERADICATE ISLAM!!!" That's like saying Iran killing ISIS members is trying to eradicate Islam. Get real.

There is a reason why the Uyghur separatists call their supposed land "East Turkestan" or "Uyghuristan": because they want to ethnically cleanse non-Turkic Muslims from the region, such as the Hui people, which the Chinese government has put little to no restrictions on.

Which makes zero sense from the "CHINA WANTS TO ERADICATE ISLAM" perspective.

Why would the Chinese govt's focus be solely on Uyghurs if they want to eradicate Islam? Most Muslims in China aren't even Uyghurs.

The sad thing is, this isn't anything new. This is just one of the many examples of westerners pushing propaganda in support of "moderate rebels" who turn out to be Islamist terrorists who have catchphrases for a sympathetic western audience like "we want freedom".

That's what happened in Syria. You look at all the positive press the FSA protesters in Syria got, so many of their videos getting shares and likes. But then you wonder: how come there are never any women at their protests? How come women in Idlib have to wear headscarves?

Which brings us full circle: where is the Turkistan Islamic Party, that wants an Islamic State in Xinjiang, headquartered?
