If you are celebrating the colonial holiday, please consider also doing something helpful for Native people this weekend. There are a lot of great Native people, groups and orgs that deserve more support than they get. Here are a few that I recommend. (THREAD)
If you would like to contribute to the @IWRising abortion fund, which provides assistance to Indigenous people seeking abortion care in the US and Canada you can do so here: https://www.iwrising.org/abortion-fund
To support the fight to save the Indian Child Welfare Act (and so much more), donate to @lakotalaw. These folks fight for the rights of Native children and to keep Native children in Native homes. They also work to defend Native land. http://lakotalaw.org/our-actions/lplp-donate
Another great option is the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance. NAFSA is dedicated to restoring, supporting and developing Indigenous food systems and ensuring food security for future generations. https://nativefoodalliance.org/donate-now/
With Native voting rights under threat, this is a good time to support @4directionsvote. Their organizers are committed to the full enfranchisement of Native people. To fight Native voter suppression, you can donate here: http://fourdirectionsvote.com/donation/
If you want to support one of the Native youth who helped launch the Standing Rock protests, who is now working to put himself through college, you can do that here: http://PayPal.me/WhiteEyes
To support an O’odham land defender & mom who's lending direct support at a border resistance camp (who will need travel funds to return home to her family, where she will continue her work against border militarization):

Venmo: @missylandback

Paypal: http://paypal.me/missytoogood
To help an Indigenous migrant mom and her two daughters who are fleeing a violent home w travel & housing:

Venmo: ChiIWOC-SSN
Cashapp: $ChiSSN

(Some friends of mine are working w this family to help them get to Chicago to join other family members.)
I know from past fundraising efforts that if I try to thank you all individually, this app will interpret those thanks as spam and suspend my account lol, so please just know that I see and appreciate you and I love hearing from ppl who've contributed. Y'all rock.
Shout out to everyone who's donated and everyone who's helping to circulate this thread! These donations are going to make a real difference in people's lives and I am so heartened by all of the solidarity and mutual aid folks are extending. ❤️
I've received a bunch of excited thank yous from people in this thread who you all have helped out. I'm so grateful & they are too. I hope that more folks who haven't donated yet decide to be part of this over the weekend bc it's a beautiful thing & y'all have done so much good.
I just talked to someone from @Chi_Nations and they've received over $2K in donations from y'all over the past two days. For a small grassroots org like theirs, that's huge. I'm hoping they see a few more donations this weekend. Thank you all for supporting Native youth. ♥️
Y'all have raised $15K in abortion care funds for @IWRising! They fund abortion care for Indigenous ppl in need in both the U.S. and Canada, so every penny of this money is needed and will be put to good use. I'm so grateful to everyone who's joined these efforts. ♥️
Last update: In addition to helping all of the other great orgs and individuals in this thread, y'all also raised several thousand dollars for my people's fight against a toxic extraction effort and I am just so grateful. Thank you for your help and for all that you do.
