Hi. We need to talk about guns/weapons and schools.
The overwhelming majority of weapons incidents at schools are caused by males. We all know this is true.
Boys take weapons to school.
The majority of teachers are female. You also know this is true.
So, when we talk about male violence against females, this is another arena where this is happening, although in this case, as the teacher is the adult in the room, they are going to be held responsible for any interaction with the student.
Female teachers are the first line of defense/interaction with these young males with weapons.
My teacher friend has witnessed several teachers being thrown ALL the way under the bus for incidents that they couldn’t reasonably control.
Teachers get suspension and investigations because a male student brought a weapon to her class, and she was supposed to know what was going on and how to handle the situation perfectly.
Do you realize this is happening in our schools? Do you realize that teachers are always the first to get the blame and are basically being held hostage to a system that says the adult is always wrong?
Administrators will do everything in their power to avoid blame, which almost always means putting everything onto the classroom teacher.
I support the teachers union. I urge everyone to lock up their guns, because we know guns can come from the home.
We hear about school shootings. What the news doesn’t cover is that guns are in our schools daily, and the administrators could handle it better.
