These are odd times indeed but I worry when Christians suggest they are "politically homeless" - the sermon on the mount is the foundation of the politics (arrangement of life together) Christians are called to enact before our allegiance to any political party.
Relegating these commands to the 'private sphere' or deriving their 'values' for application in the world of realpolitik doesn't take seriously the call for followers of Jesus to be a political alternative to all political arrangements not founded on his Lordship.
'Jesus is Lord' is not some twee personal preference Christians have but a claim about the essence of the cosmos & demands a body of people who arrange their lives together as if this is true: the word for this is politics.
