Gamers are all acting like "trans rights" is some kind of ironic meme, and that irks me a bit.
As a NB person, I'm always afraid content creators doing stuff I enjoy will turn out to have bigoted views on *my right to exist*. Hearing them say "Trans rights" can be LIBERATING

The whole HEARTBEAT debacle is a perfect example of thid. I looked up to the game creators and they inspired me to work on RM to begin with.
So when they turned out to be TERFS, my heart shattered. I felt horrible, and I honestly considered quitting using RM altogether.

And I think would have, without my friends and mutuals being overwhelmingly against them and people like Nitro Rad deleting their videos on the game. It's really hard to describe how depressing it can feel to have people you consider as inspirations just denying you have rights.
Of course it's easy to go "Content creators aren't your friends and you shouldn't glorify them" and I agree, but here the bar is very, VERY low. Asking content creators to consider trans and NB people as /human beings/ isn't glorification, it's asking for human decency.
also why is the first tweet of the thread my lamunation tweet what the fuck
