Tomorrow’s #wbabri match is an important one for me: with the Thanksgiving holiday and modern technology, I shall, for the first time, be subjecting my extended family to English football. Things I am anticipating (though feel free to clue me into something I’ve overlooked):
- Hearing the “w” pronounced in “Bromwich”
- Answering questions about Man Utd, Messi, Ronaldo
- Being asked if West Brom has or will play in the World Cup
- Telling everyone to focus on the players in the blue and white stripes
- Hearing the “w” pronounced in “Bromwich”
- Explaining how promotion/relegation works
- Explaining the offside rule
- Explaining the difference between West Brom and West Ham
- Explaining who Bristol City are
- Hearing the “w” pronounced in “Bromwich”
- In the second half, having my sister, who will have wandered off to the kitchen around minute 20, wander back in to ask “Is this game still going on?” only to explain to her that it’s the second half.
- Aaaaaannnd finally: hearing various family members ask my wife if she “approves” of me spending time watching English football

So, pray for me; happy Thanksgiving; and Up the Albion, by God!
