Look, I'm just not interested in all the fear mongering around Jupiter in Capricorn. Sure, it's not Jupiter in Sagittarius, of course. But it's also not like The Greater Benefic is canceled from existing for 2 years either.
Planets in their fall have to make due with what they have, which isn't much. They don't have the resources to do What They Naturally Do to the very best of their ability. But you know what? That breeds a hell of a lot of resourcefulness.
two thousand years ago, when things like essential dignity were conceptualized, nearly no one had time for a personality test style of astrology/divination. They needed facts, and the facts are, if the planets are not well disposed to help you, your life could be compromised.
To the great fortune of many of us, due to technological and scientific advancement, we are not at as much risk 2000 year later because things like penicillin exist. So ill-disposed planets manifest differently in many cases.
Countless times, I have seen clients with planets in their detriment/exile/fall ruling the midheaven, signifying work around empowering folks who are somehow indisposed, whether in a counselling setting, or related to marginalized groups and representation, or literal doctors.
Pain, misfortune, and many horrible things still exist in our world. It's undeniable. But planets with poor essential dignity, without their preferred resources, in today's context, simply have a wider and potentially less catastrophic range of interpretation.
I'm not willing to abandon hope when it's most needed simply because our Lord of Hope, Jupiter, is entering rough territory.
With Jupiter in Capricorn, our sources of hope and joy will be tested. Our optimism will be measured against the cold reality of circumstance. We will be forced to kindle our belief in the frigid, biting winds of the world. We will fail, and we will find other ways.
Belief will not be a matter of superficial optimism, which will deflate when challenged. What we'll need is the kind of rally cry against despair that @BeccaTarnas and @gordon_white talk about in their latest Rune Soup episode.
Sometimes when joy doesn't seem or feel available, we can still find and access purpose. And when times are bleak and joy is absent, purpose is what guides us out of despair. Jupiter in Capricorn will prioritize purpose.
This concept is beautifully outlined and astrologically explained in @LeisaSchaim 's lecture from NORWAC 2018, which still rings in my mind so often. Worth a listen, most definitely.
