Thread by an unapologetic Ayton fan:
Ayton& #39;s suspension has potential to be one of the best things to happen for him, or at least he has an opportunity to turn it in to one.
I think for all his confidence, scratch beneath the surface and he& #39;s still a self conscious kid

Given the amount of pressure and scrutiny he was already under, dealing with such an embarrassing misstep this early in his career is surely a very humbling experience.
One that will hopefully help him to mature and refine his approach to basketball

Being on the outside looking in *should* have given him a fresh perspective of what he needs to do and how he needs to do it.
I know he can, but it all depends on how he& #39;s taking it in.
Is he indignant & dismissive, or receptive & willing to embrace this as a launch pad?

Fortunately for him, I& #39;m totally convinced he has the perfect support group around him to help him navigate this.
Monty, Jones, Rubio, Baynes. Even Kelly has a refreshing amount of emotional intelligence.
If this happened last year, I& #39;m not sure we could have said the same

Now. About his game, our expectations and... Luka Doncic.
If when he& #39;s back he can consistently perform on both ends as well as he did against Sac, that will be more that enough towards muzzling his critics. It& #39;s not going to heal Luka fans& #39; hurt, but it& #39;ll numb the pain

Obviously there& #39;s no debate any more. Suns passed on a generational star.
Now the perfect storm of Doncic going supernova while Ayton is stuck in the sin bin is exacerbating what was already a losing argument.
It doesn& #39;t end there though. We have a star

Arguing that he might still eclipse Luka is fast becoming a fools errand (if it isn& #39;t already) but that doesn& #39;t mean he can& #39;t or won& #39;t also become a generational talent.
He has all the tools available to him to make his critics u-turn. He just has to screw his head on

Now, about Trae and the Hawks. They drafted Luka and traded him. Arguably more painful than simply passing.
Despite this, Trae isn& #39;t held to the same impossible standards as Ayton. Why? Because Trae proves himself. Consistently.

Trae doesn& #39;t leave Hawks fans with any room for doubt. No worries about mentality or effort. He& #39;s given them enough to totally buy in.
They know what they have and they know he& #39;s taking them places.
Maybe he& #39;s not Luka, but he IS Trae Young.
And Trae Young is amazing

Deandre Ayton can be the same. He will be.
Hell, if he DID manage to play EVERY GAME like he did against Sac? I don& #39;t want to hear a Suns fan utter Luka& #39;s name ever again!
THAT Deandre? On THIS team? With THIS Booker? That could eventually win you championships.

Hyperbole out the way, he doesn& #39;t even need to be Sacramento Ayton. Not right now.
Even if he can just be last seasons Ayton, but with the addition of better defense, more physicality and more consistency? Thats enough for now. That& #39;s one of the best C& #39;s in the league

We& #39;d all love the 3 pointer but we don& #39;t even need it just now.
As long as he& #39;s keyed in and trying on both ends every night, he& #39;s totally allowed poor nights. Thats real life.
If he can get to a point where all his critics have left is nitpicky little things, he& #39;s winning.

... Anyway, that& #39;s the end of the story kids.
He might not be Luka Doncic, but he IS Deandre Ayton.
And you know what?
Deandre Ayton is fucking amazing.
