2/n. In 2017, an odd story sprang up that my name Richard Pearson is just an alias used by some guy named “Ricardo Antonio” who conceals his whereabouts and manipulates stocks. This absurd story then spread to small “news” sites, professional papers papers and even 2 lawsuits.
3/n. My name is Richard Pearson, my entire life has been in Los Angeles for many years, I meet with investors and journalists in Santa Monica on a regular basis. I have never had any association with anyone named “Ricardo Antonio Pearson”. I have not lived in NY for 14 years.
4/n. The lawsuit Vuzix vs. Ricardo Antonio Pearson was recently dismissed in NY for lack of jurisdiction. 5/n. I quickly asked the court to clarify why this “Ricardo” language once again appeared in this way, and I explained once again to the court what has been going on against my name since 2017. 6/n. Judge issued a court order: it was never court’s intention to comment on “nomenclature” on “Ricardo”. 7/n. CA has strong anti-Slapp laws. I went to school in LA, I live in LA, I have a CA drivers license, I pay CA taxes, I have no ties to any other state. But because I has to defend this suit in NY, none of this mattered. Failing to answer a suit naming Mox was never an option
8/n. Most ppl have zero understanding of how law suits work in federal court. Getting that single sentence took almost three years and cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars. Federal court is not small claims court - I promise you !
9/n. The lesson I hope ppl absorb is this: Any absurdity repeated often enough can become widely accepted as truth. Even when such absurdity it is provably preposterous. From a practical standpoint thinking we can rely on “Proof” or “Truth” has serious real world limitations
