From discriminatory facial recognition technology to online harassment, any Democratic candidate must address the rise of the Digital Jim Crow and surveillance of Black communities. How are we to trust Bloomberg on these issues when he has spent his whole career doing just that? https://twitter.com/KumarRaoNYC/status/1198618358217945088
In addition to Stop & Frisk policies, Bloomberg used New York police officers to covertly observe people who planned to protest the 2004 RNC up to a year in advance - not just in NYC, but nationwide, in Canada and in Europe. Where’s his “apology” for that? https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/11/bloomberg-civil-liberties/602239/
Enough is enough. If Michael Bloomberg wants to be president, it’s time for real accountability for the violent and invasive policies he has supported time and time again - not half-hearted backtracking and “apologies.”
