So here’s what I notice about right and left twitter:

Rightwing twitter is very concerned with individual’s value.

Leftwing twitter is very concerned about society’s value.

One side is about members of the group, the other about the group as a whole.

Neither are... wrong.
Here’s what IS wrong:

Individual value AT THE EXPENSE of the group

Group’s value AT THE EXPENSE of the individuals who make up the group.

Both sides are crossing the line of their usefulness.

The right is caring less about the group while the left is uncaring of individuals.
To succeed, they both need to moderate. The right can emphasize individual value while acknowledging the usefulness of groups, and the left can emphasize the value of the group while acknowledging that individuals matter.

They’d hate each other less if they could do this.
The trouble is, for one to moderate, they have to believe the other one will too.

The right won’t prioritize groups when they think individual rights will be destroyed, and the left won’t prioritize caring about individuals if they think the pack will be sacrificed.

Stalemate.
Obviously, since I’m a conservative, I tend toward the individual side. A group is toxic if it destroys it’s members. So I think the optimal candidate recognizes the value of groups but emphasizes the importance of the unique individuals in those groups.

I think Reagan did that.
And that guy won 49 states not so long ago.
