I agree, & think a medics perceived expectation that patients can't/won't accept that the doctor may not know is more about medics preconceived ideas & expectations than patients. Pretending either to know the answers when we don't or to have the arrogance to suggest the patients symptoms are unjustified are both far more harmful to the patient (and professional) than honestly acknowledging diagnostic anx management difficulty.
