I wrote down some (lots of) thoughts last night when I got the news...
A part-time tutor did a couple homework assignments for a few athletes four years ago. Four years later, the NCAA has decided to punish 166 student-athletes and 56 coaches who had absolutely nothing to do with this part-time tutor four years ago.
That same part-time tutor, who helped 12 students w/ a few quizzes & texted them some homework answers, got on social media to try and sell this information (names of the students) to the public for money. Mizzou fired her immediately & self reported the information to the @NCAA.
The @NCAA applauded Mizzou for “exemplary cooperation” throughout the entire process and then turned around said F U, here is an absolute death sentence.

Those 166 athletes can’t play in the postseason (which is what you train your entire life for).
-Recruiting bans for the 56 coaches (EVEN THOUGH THIS “VIOLATION” HAD NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH RECRUITING)

-A 5% reduction in scholarships

-So now they are taking away about 10 scholarship opportunities for potential OR CURRENT student-athletes for something done 4+ years ago.
Mizzou football, baseball, and softball coaches may not be able to take recruits that are committed or, even worse, will have to tell a CURRENT STUDENT-athlete he has to leave campus or now walk-on because they don’t have a scholarship anymore.
The @NCAA’s slogan is, “Providing opportunities to earn a college degree is at the heart of our mission.”
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE TAKING AWAY FROM A KID WHO WAS 14 WHEN THIS HAPPENED, chose to attend THIS school, and now is forced to leave!
Please read those last three again to understand how fucked that is.
A punishment unlike any other for an Athletic Director, Chancellor, University President, Head Football Coach, Head Softball Coach, and Head Baseball Coach that had absolutely nothing to do with the University of Missouri when this part-time tutor did these “horrible” things.
Maybe worst of all, it took you idiots 246 days to NOT OVERTURN A SINGLE GD THING. You left an entire football team, baseball team, softball team, and athletic department to think about this and answer questions about this DAILY for 246 freaking days. An incredible distraction.
As Jim Sterk said, “Not overturning this could have a chilling effect on future NCAA enforcement processes." Well congrats to all of you clowns working in Indianapolis. You asked for what is about to happen in Every. Single. Future. Case.
