One point which I would like to highlight is the contribution that faculty, including librarians and SLI’s, as well as staff make to the larger community: Prince George, Quesnel, Terrace and all the other locales that we call home. We do not fly in and fly out, we are here.
I will start. I am President of the local French association, Le Cercle des Canadiens-Français de Prince George and I have been volunteering there for close to two decades. @shirleybond certainly knows the contribution we make as we had the pleasure of hosting her at events.
I have also volunteered to be a judge at science fairs both in schools and at the larger regional competitions. How many colleagues do the same and spend countless hours in helping to organizing such events.
I know that my friends and colleagues who work at UNBC do so much. They work to raise funds for charities, volunteer on a host of community organizations, run and bike for Cancer and do so much for so many good causes.
We have shown time and time again our commitment to the community. I had the privilege of working with administrators in the past who also had the same devotion. Charles Jago, for example. He was devoted to the community while he served as President and after retiring.
All we want is fairness and a deal which fits into sector norms. We are committed to making the North the best it could be, and I only wish the upper administration of #unbc were as committed to actually taking the time to negotiate in good faith. #unbcfastrong
