Academic search committees doing fly-outs: PLEASE remember to ask candidates whether they have any food, personal or other restrictions that might dictate the time and resources they require during their visit.

Short thread about some things you might want to think about (1/x):
Food restrictions:
1) Does the candidate require special food? How does it need to be prepared and transported? Are there other food related issues the committee should consider? (Including food related concerns like IBS etc.)
Religious practices:
Will the candidate need to take time out of the day for religious practices? Are any resources required? Will the cnadidate need an additional room? Directions to the closest prayer house etc etc?
Personal:
Will the candidate need to take any time out of the day to perform any personal practices? Will they need a specific room or environment? Will they require internet access, outlets, or any other technology? Specific times of the day that these things will be needed?
Other:
Are there things the candidate might require at any point during the trip? Are there specific concerns the candidate might have related to hospitality, transportation and other services that will be provided?
AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not wait for candidates to ask. I cannot stress this enough. I'm a fairly extroverted person who advocates for myself often and even I have a hard time initiating the "kosher conversation."
