Perspective time on a Tuesday morning.

Earlier this year, I was speaking with someone on the condition of anonymity and they told me that while interviewing for a job in the NHL, accusations were made about their sexual orientation in a derogatory manner.
The accusations were false, but that's absolutely not important. So when this particular club started to fall apart internally, I vaguely mentioned to someone with another club that this had happened. And they told me not to spread lies, because they "didn't believe it at all."
They asked for more details. I told them I had promised I wouldn't share those, to protect the person who had been demeaned and stereotyped. And instead of questioning how those stories happen, I was told off for 'spreading damaging rumors'.
If you are not the victim, you don't get to decide what stories get reported.
If you are not the victim, you don't get to decide what details get shared.
If you are the person blowing the whistle, you don't get to decide who believes you.

What a disappointing week.
