Full disclosure: I have PTSD from two experiences, I'm a rape survivor and I survived a fire in my apartment on my daughter's 4th birthday. Both incidents are over 20 years ago and I still bear the scars and although not as bad, I still have my moments. I understand that we
live in an age where being "cancelled" online can feel like a burden. I guess when psychology catches up with technology, a specific term will be created for those who chose to put themselves on social media. The main reason I have an issue with this specific situation with
Jaclyn Hill is because I did not chose to burn my apartment (it was a malfunction of the building's heater) or get attacked. Jaclyn chose to sell a product and when it came back defective, she did not take swift action. Mistakes can happen on any production line. Not taking full
ownership, and making it right with customers in a timely manner was her choice. She got "cancelled" because her actions were not appropriate. I'm sure she is hesitant for this launch today. If she wants it to go smoothly, I hope she truly changed labs and provides a good
quality product. I wish her success because everyone deserves a second chance. Using the term PTSD and/or using anxiety all the time feels like she wants our sympathy and I just can't help but feel like she is diminishing those of us who have truly lived through hell.
PS. When I said I still bare the scars (or however you spell it), I'm not talking about physical ones.
PS2. I was unceremoniously reminded that every time we go to cold weather season in Florida and we turn on the heater for the first time, allegedly I go bezerk. It does spike up my anxiety because it smells exactly like the apartment before the bad thing happened.
