An appalling example of advice to make NC in iv (thread.) You officers will love this;

A string of nasty robberies identified a suspect. He lived with a young woman who became my client. My client was arrested alongside her bf. She was the mother of a small child, she worked f/t
and had no precons. She drove a car. She had allowed her bf to borrow it (and her satnav.)

When police were approaching, he obviously knew what was about to happen. He told her ‘use x solicitors! Say nothing, say no comment, whatever you do, say no comment!’ She instructed his
Solicitors.

Her home was searched. Various items connected to the robberies were found in her home & garden. Her car was located at several scenes as did her satnav history. In short, she was implicated!

The same Rep was instructed to act for both (not necessarily wrong.) She
Told him her bf didn’t want her to answer questions. She told him she had no knowledge of the robberies and was shocked and horrified by it. He advised her to answer NC in iv. NB. I only had her account of what happened during their consultation. A further point to note is that
she didn’t want to get poor bf into trouble & he had said she must say NC.

She answered NC in iv, as did her bf. Both bailed pending further enquiries. My client’s parents were not happy with the advice given & brought her in to see me.

This was a free app in the office since
as no legal aid exists to cover it & she didn’t earn enough to pay. As a legal aid fee earner, you do a lot of this & when you get a sniff of a potential disaster for your client, you do it happily & willingly! This is why you do your job. It’s fantastic to be able to.
