v short thread: it& #39;s really great to see a huge surge of young people registering to vote. but this doesn& #39;t automatically translate into voters on the day, and not everyone is able to (or can afford to) take the time off work to get to a polling station
i say this because in the UK elections are held on working weekdays, and there& #39;s still no legislation in place to allow employees to take time off work to vote.
So if you know somebody who& #39;s newly registered, remind them to try and fit some time aside from work/childcare/etc, or to ask their employer if they can take time off work to get to a polling station.
or if it may be difficult to get to a polling station, to let them know they can vote by proxy (but to apply to vote by proxy by 5pm on 4 December here > https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/proxy-voting">https://www.gov.uk/governmen... )
