v short thread: it's really great to see a huge surge of young people registering to vote. but this doesn't automatically translate into voters on the day, and not everyone is able to (or can afford to) take the time off work to get to a polling station
i say this because in the UK elections are held on working weekdays, and there's still no legislation in place to allow employees to take time off work to vote.
So if you know somebody who's newly registered, remind them to try and fit some time aside from work/childcare/etc, or to ask their employer if they can take time off work to get to a polling station.
or if it may be difficult to get to a polling station, to let them know they can vote by proxy (but to apply to vote by proxy by 5pm on 4 December here > https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/proxy-voting )
