you have to remember the poorest decile don’t just rely on benefits lmao https://twitter.com/jamesrbuk/status/1199246432177475584
lib dem’s offer slightly more in benefits doesn’t change the fact they have no plan on rent control, so literally doesn’t structurally change poor households situation
labour offer rent control and higher living wage with better rights at work, plus free internet and decent retrofit to get energy bills down
labour is tackling both sides of poverty - the income and spending side- while lib dem’s are focused on the income side
not to mention the structural opportunities are different in a country that builds 150,000 social housing every year than a country that doesn’t
also secure right to food irrespective with better funding so ppl don’t actually end up in food banks in first place
also no point in giving ppl a few pounds extra a week and then expecting them to pay for dentistry, prescriptions and all sorts of stuff
abolishing universal credit too
and the report is pretty clear that labour does help renters, families and disabled ppl while doing nothing for working age ppl

but that’s just considering benefits - labour obviously is only party planning more rights at work - unions do heavy lifting here not gov
this was always the standard labour recipe? more rights for unions so working ppl can fight for better rights and income while the state takes care of those unable to work for whatever reason?
