The scale of change for #futureparks is massive: income generation + social finance (obvs), asset management (commercial, also energy gen), volunteers, community partnerships (for skills, health etc), involving public & visitors in how LAs work, cause massaging/marketing & more
Some good quotes from the baseline workshops: “Relations with the public (esp via voluntary groups & charities)” recognised as important. “Good levels of political buy in”. Parallels with #upstreamcollective in helping councils morph their role..? (Also @nesta_uk & @localitynews)
“Thinking of Parks as health assets requires a different language & set of perceptions than as recreational facilities. More still if reimagined for biodiversity & climate change mitigation” (See leeds climate change Citizens Assembly yesterday)
“Workforce Transformation is at the heart of some projects. Recent history of cuts in parks authorities & austerity are recognised. There is wide recognition of the need to communicate the ambition effectively to the public & create genuine community involvement.”
“The 25 year visions are highly reliant on non-traditional partners playing key roles in parks in the future - health professionals, businesses & the voluntary and community sector. Do they want roles & how could they be supported..?” (End)
