Switching jobs/short lived teams in tech. A 🧵

I've been with my current employer for 4 years. According to various people I run in to professionally that is "very long". They say this with a concerned look on their faces while telling me it's "time to switch".
Apparently there's this idea in tech that one will "stagnate" if one stays too long in one place or that the only way to "stay current" is to switch jobs. To me this is complete nonsense. Furthermore, what I truly value at work are great colleagues.
And when I say great colleagues I mean humble, skilled, compassionate people, who enjoy knowledge sharing and making each other better. The idea that switching jobs just for the sake of it would be better than staying in a long lived productive team is ridiculous to me.
Furthermore, one of the things I really enjoy about work is hiring. And thus being able to actively take part in growing our great community of FP peeps. Seeing us having fun at work while delivering solid business value makes me really happy.
Anyhoo. This became quite a 🧵. I guess I'm just tired of short-lived teams and turbulence.

Also, employers should pay their workers fair wages. That way people (especially minorities in tech) wouldn't have to switch jobs to get their salaries up. That'd also help. Alot.
