How do we solve the catch 22 nutrition in MedEd-
1 Drs are not trained in nutrition so lack of approp trainers.
2 No investment in education research so we dont know what works.
3 Med schools dont employ (*or trust) non medics (dietitians/ RNutr) 1/2 https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331674319_Clinical_Nutrition_Education_of_Doctors_and_Medical_Students_Solving_the_Catch_22

We need more education on the multiprofessional team, who doctors can refer to and to better promote the vast and varied skill set of all of health professionals. I have witnessed (hopefully not common*) teaching which discourages trust and collaboration with non medics

*there is an urgent need for research into interprofessional roles in nutrition care. My hunch...this is as much about CULTURE as education. Research also needs investment so there is CAPACITY....if working overtime to do the basics no time to research/ publish

So ...we know there is a lack of nutrition in meded
Next steps
1Investment in education (including appropriate staffing) and research into what works
2 Investment into research. What does good nutrition care/ barriers to look like
3 Multiprofessional Ed- Not just Drs
