Inspired by @gradydoctor to share today's story

Day 1 attending new wards block - woke up early, read about our patients. Rushing to hospital as I mentally add task after task to today's agenda

Finish pre-rounding
Prepare for facilitating morning report
Countless admin tasks
Walking the hall to the office, eyes down, focused on my stress, my to-do list...

Voice in distance: "Dr. Leiner! Dr. Leiner!"

<look down at large window at end of hallway>

Resident calling to me: "Come look at this beautiful Sunrise!!"
We sit and watch from the window. A few silent moments watching the colors dance across the morning sky

Here I was focused on all the things to do today that I forgot to notice the beauty around me...
We are #HumansCaringForHumans - note the patients aren't the only humans in this relationship. WE are human too, and can get caught up in the sometimes inhuman situations in medicine. We can burn out
Don't forget to pause

Find things that can refill your tank

Don't forget to look up and notice the beauty all around

Thank you to this resident who reminded me to do so today
At a recent "new APD" APDIM Precourse, @scall1200 gave reasons for why we do what we do in GME education; top three reasons?

1) the trainees

2) the trainees

3) the trainees
I am so grateful to work where I do with amazing residents @VCU_IMRes. You guys inspire me every day.
