3 tips BEFORE revising a manuscript.

1) WAIT: It's tempting to revise the same day you get feedback. Don't. Revising too quickly turns stories into Frankenmanuscripts. Sleep on it. Think of the bigger picture. Give a revision time.
2) REFRESH: Before revising a story, work on something else first. It could be a poem, outline, or article. This helps cleanse the writing pallet, so you can see former work more objectively.
3) QUESTION: Are your stakes/hooks compelling enough? Is your approach and/or POV the right one? Is it different enough from what is already on the market? How could you make your story stronger?
Bonus* HOPE: it's normal to have bouts of doubts while working on a story. Remember the spark that initially drew you to the project. Feed the flame of that excitement until your story roars with life!

Happy revising!
