As the largest healthcare union in the country, we’re thrilled to see candidates like @PeteButtigieg share their healthcare & long term care plans. We support all plans that move healthcare forward, but that support is not an endorsement of a candidate. https://bit.ly/2KUeMXi
His plan would create Long-Term Care America, a program to help seniors and people with disabilities to get the care they need and link it to high-quality standards for workers. It would also make it easier to get private long term care insurance.

Mayor Pete understands any long term plan needs to fix the shortage crisis by making it easier for workers to form a union, increasing the minimum wage to $15/hr and even more for those who gain more skills and experience.
Workers could advocate for wages, training and benefits, as well as participate in apprenticeship programs similar to what @SEIU members pioneered. It would also implement safe staffing ratios for nursing homes.
The plan also expands access to Medicaid so seniors and people with disabilities are not forced to run out of savings before receiving long term care benefits, as well as create a directory where people are able to find high-quality caregivers.
