I think this depends on whether your nature is conservative or liberal. We do seem to have both and it& #39;s unlikely one is a social construct because how would it arise in the first place? https://twitter.com/AleksandraAco/status/1198712012446064640">https://twitter.com/Aleksandr...
You can try to tell my nature that it wants to be conservative & that conservatism meets the need of my sex, but my nature will continue to be quite sure it is actually liberal & that some of my needs are typically feminine & some of them are not.
I am quite convinced there is a human nature & that it differs on average between men & women, but I disagree strongly with conservatives who claim that conservatism acknowledges this while liberalism denies it and thus conservatism is more compatible with human nature.
I see a different breakdown in attitudes towards human nature and gender differences and views on gender roles. I& #39;m aware that this relies on a meaning of & #39;liberal& #39; that American conservatives who say the above might not be using.
Conservative attitudes towards human nature & gender differences = Men & women have different psychological traits and different psychological needs. Traditional gender roles are manifestations of this & denying them will therefore lead to unhappiness & societal breakdown.
Blank-slate leftist attitudes towards human nature & gender differences = Men & women do not have different psychological traits & different psychological needs. Traditional gender roles are cultural constructs that police & constrain people & lead to unhappiness & oppression.
Liberal attitudes towards human nature & gender differences = Men & women have different psychological traits & different psychological needs on average but individuals vary greatly. (cont)
Traditional gender roles reflect this difference on average & are likely to persist to some degree quite naturally, but constraining individuals to them does not accommodate the reality of individual variation & leads to unhappiness & the loss of much potential.
