Racialized folks doing anti-racist work are constructed as trouble-makers as white folks are un/learning. Then when white folks have un/learned "enough" to write/speak about it publicly, they erase those very racialzed ppl from the discourse.
This is known as interest convergence...racialized ppl's interests in achieving racial equity advances only when those interests "converge" with the interests of white ppl.
So racialized people endure the labour and hardship of anti-racist work, often at the expense of their personal and professional well-being, and white ppl take the credit by presenting this thinking as their own.
For white ppl doing this work: Name those who taught you. Recognize that your speech/workshop/book/blog/article that benefits your career, is because of someone else's oppression, intelligence and hard work.
Should this be considered a form plagiarism?
