This is totally legit take as long as Perry also shared w/ Trump that Scripture records whether each king did right in the eyes of the LORD or whether he did evil.

The same God that appoints rulers also judges them. https://twitter.com/CourtneyHagle/status/1198654816928579584
There's a principle here that transcends Trump & this political moment:

If God grants you earthly authority, it is primarily a responsibility to rule w/ justice & mercy. To rule as He would rule.
We do not have to give up the category of ruling authority in order to check abuses of power. We must remember that it is derived from God. It is not a blank check to behave however we want to or serve our own interests. Rulers will be held to account for how they rule.
This is true for anyone that holds any kind of structural authority over other human beings--pastors, civic leaders, bosses, parents, teachers, etc.

We are responsible for the power entrusted to us.
And we will give account for how we use it. Make no mistake, if we use it in self-serving ways or use it to promote evil instead of good, we will answer to the One who holds all authority.
If, however, we use the power that has been entrusted to us to build up & promote the flourishing of others, our Lord may also say to us, "We'll done, you good & faithful servant."
One more thought: Being put into a place of power by God *should* result in humility, in fear & trembling. It should result in dependency--on Him & others. If it emboldens you & makes you more self-assurred, you're doing it wrong.
