Seems worth noting that this is the 2nd time in 4 years the #Eagles have ended up fielding literally the worst WR corps in the league. It& #39;s a huge blind spot for Howie. He& #39;s the #BadGM there, needs to operate with that assumed.
I have some sympathy for Doug. He& #39;s getting crap for "lack of creativity" and such. Guy is down half his starters, has multiple fill-ins off the street. Playbook is going to be tiny by necessity.
When he tried to "get creative", it ended in that catastrophe of a play to Sanders then ended in a fumble.
You don& #39;t have to be a brilliant DC to know they& #39;re going to try to get the ball to Ertz and Geodert. It& #39;s an extraordinarily easy offense to defend right now. I put most of that on lack of speed.
To go to an extreme, watch Tyreke Hill. It doesn& #39;t matter if you know what& #39;s coming, he can outrun any number of defenders. Ertz can be taken away pretty easily if you know you can shut down a bunch of JV-level guys on the outside without help.
Without speed, what is the cost of making a mistake for any opposing defense?
