Everyday I come on twitter I understand why we should recite Surah Al Kahf every week.

The stories aren’t just for us to read without making tadabbur.

Surah Al Kahf is an anchor for us to help us through trialing times.
The very first story is about a group of young men who went through extreme lengths to protect their religion.

If you think you cannot relate to this, think again.
There are people who’ve made it their life’s mission to place doubts in our hearts about the deen.

I’m not just talking about the media, we see them on twitter everyday.
They bring up issues they think we cannot answer and engage in arguments with the intention of breaking us.
The people of the cave were young men, what group of the population do you think is more at risk of losing their deen and imaan in these trialing times?

Who do you think is more at risk of getting obsessed with tv shows and music that clearly promote immorality? The youth.
They were set as an example for us so that we can learn from them.

Doubt can be dangerous. A seed of it can grow in your heart if you let it germinate.
Now how do you protect yourself from doubt?

Knowledge.
Remember the story of Musa AS and Khidr?

Musa AS traveled for days to seek knowledge from someone that had more knowledge than him.
We should be ready to seek knowledge from people more knowledgeable than us.

Even if it means leaving the comfort of our homes.
The Qur’an was revealed in different dialects. The Prophet SAW would recite the verses to Ubayy bin Ka’ab in one dialect.

One time, Ubayy heard a man reciting it in a different way, and he asked him where he got the verses from.
The man said he heard the Prophet SAW recite it like that.

Ubayy narrated that it was the first time that he ever had any doubts about the deen.

How did Ubayy clear those doubts?
He went to the most authentic source of information, the Prophet SAW, and the Prophet explained it to him.

The doubts disappeared.
Similarly, we need to guard our hearts against doubts by arming ourselves with knowledge from authentic sources.
I assure you, everything they use to put us on the hot seat, Western scholars have given lectures with defenses against them.

They face these people all the time.
Listen to those lectures.

Sh. YQ’s seerah series and his Lives of the Sahaba series answer every question you might have.

It will cement certainly about the deen in your heart by the will of Allah.
We all think we’re scholars on this app. The little basic knowledge we have, we use it to even question ulama.

We’re not. We can easily fall victims اعوذ بالله, others have, we’ve seen it.
If Musa AS, one of the اولو العزم من الرسل went out of his way to seek knowledge, who are we to assume we know everything we need to know?

Honestly, who are we?
Protect your religion by arming yourself with knowledge.

What greater loss is there than losing your deen after Allah has blessed you with it?

May Allah protect us.
