A rant on narratives, mostly:
The "Protagonist-dads and their Kids" has become a formula of nearly guaranteeing a successful storytelling over this past decade, when gender equity in narratives has encouraged prevalence of self-suffecient female figures and kid-bonding fathers

While I enjoy seeing dads doting their kids, it should be noted that leading female characters in the video games should in theory has equal potential of being a mother and at the same time a protagonist.
Perhaps it has things to do with most of the games that are incorporating the "dad and kid" formula tends to be games that have a larger portion of male gamers than female, or perhaps because we have more male talents contributing in narratives and gameplay designs?
