A thread about Viktor Shokin, the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine, who met with Devin Nunes and staff in December 2018 to give them “info” for the Republican smear campaign against Democratic hopeful Joe Biden.
In late October 2015, things were not going well for Shokin.

For an unknownst reason, he had refused to implement reforms that Ukraine desperately wanted in order to comply with EU/US guidance.

Recall Ukraine had just the year before ousted Yanukovych.

The Ukrainians really wanted visa free travel to Europe.

It was like the Holy Grail.

Shokin was standing in the way of what would be the pinnacle dream of the millions who backed Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity.

Shokin threatened to investigate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rather than fire the corrupt judges.

Within days, photos of his mansion surfaced.
And Ukrainians organized.
The EuroMaidan people led an “Auto Maidan” protest, driving to his estate and to the President’s home.
The AutoMaidan rally had at least 100 cars all driving to the residence of Petro Poroshenko. It was a crisp, blue-skied Halloween day.

The Ukrainian people were calling for Shokin to resign.

They were plastering posters that read CORRUPTION on President Poroshenko’s impressive gates.

There was naturally, a hashtag #POROSHOKIN mashing up Poroshenko with Shokin.

Things took an interesting turn when two days later a sniper shot at Shokin in his office.

Was it a deflection or a genuine attempt? Rumors swirled, but the building has bullet-proof glass so no one was hurt.

Undaunted by the incident, critic leveled severe charges at Shokin.
Transparency International accused him of creating a “puppet anti-corruption body.”

Former investigative reporter and EuroMaidan activist @Leshchenkos, turned parliamentarian, had 120 signatures at the Rada calling for Shokin to resign.

Ten days later, Shokin refuses to investigate the “notorious” former energy minister who, due differences in transliterating, may show up as either Yuriy Boiko or try Yury Bokyo.
