What kind of music did you listen to as a RPG gamer in the 70s, 80s and 90s? (As a player in mid-80s/early 90s UK, I listened to prog rock and metal/thrash.) #TRPG @theGROGNARDfile @grogtalk @Blackmoor_Film @DanGormanski @DailyDwarf https://todestrieb.co.uk/blogs/daily-noise/30-years-ago-sabbat-release-blood-for-the-blood-god-white-dwarf-flexi">https://todestrieb.co.uk/blogs/dai...
I seem to recall listening to a lot of Metallica and Hawkwind (odd bedfellows) in the late 80s while playing the Bards Tale with friends. Don’t recall whether we listened to music while playing RPGs, but took a lot of inspiration from Marillion, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Queen, etc.
1/Thank to everyone for adding your thoughts on this topic. My Moorcock sensibilities added to comments seen on @theGROGNARDfile, got my reconsidering the ubiquitousness of bands like Hawkwind in my experience of RPGs BITD, and discussions with James and Dan of @grogtalk...
2/...got me thinking “metal”. Clearly, the connections are universal, but it’s interesting how experiences get rolled into one: exes, gigs, computer games, music, mags and minis. This is nostalgia, but perhaps it’s meaningful if reinvested into our lives today?
