The Pistons have had something good going, and it’s been ruined by injuries to one of their best players, a thread:

2014-15: started 5-23, cut Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings started to look like a superstar, Pistons won 11 of their next 13, then Jennings tears his Achilles. 1/
2015-16: Pistons were healthy with a good starting lineup and one of the worst benches in the league, Andre was an all star, Reggie was a borderline all star, they ended 44-38 and it looked like the future was bright. 2/
2016-17: The bench was improved in the offseason and the Pistons were projected to be a top 5 team in the East. Until Reggie Jackson got diagnosed with knee tendinitis, and though he would come back while the Pistons were 11-10, he wasn’t healthy and the Pistons were awful. 3/
2017-18: Traded for Avery Bradley who was great until he had a groin injury. The Pistons got off to a 14-6 start, then lost a couple and were at 19-14 with things looking up and looking like they were improving a lot. Until Reggie suffers a grade 3 ankle sprain, poop. 4/
2018-19: Pistons were blessed with good health, until Ish Smith went down for about 25 games, leaving 38 year old Jose Calderon as the backup point guard. Then Blake tears his meniscus 10 games before the playoffs, making the Pistons an 8 seed rather than a 6 seed. 5/
2019-20: Reggie Jackson and Blake Griffin got hurt in the offseason. Blake missed almost a month, and he’s still not 100%. Reggie is out till the new year. Derrick Rose has been dinged up. Tony Snell has been dinged up. Luke Kennard has been dinged up. Unfortunate things. 6/6
Oh, and if they never had injury problems, Stan Van Gundy would still be your coach, because you would have actually had good seasons.
